OSU To Switch to Messanger Pigeons for all Student Communication, Cites Phising Concerns, Cost

OSU Announced friday morning that it will be scrapping plans to move all student emails over to Outlook and instead be using messenger pigeons. “Our primary motivation here is to limit students from falling for phishing scams, so far we have employed numerous strategies like making students add another exclamation point or ampersand to the end of their password every 6 months but it is not working, so more needs to be done” Chief Information Officer, Vice-Provost for University Information & Technology Andrea Ballinger said.

The university also looks forward to the potential cost savings the move can bring, Steve Clark, University VP University Relations and Marketing said, “Both Google and Microsoft charge us for their services, while we expect a temporary cost increase as we requisition the birds and train them, we believe the costs will dramatically decrease over time”.
