OSU Believe it

OSU "Believe it" Campaign raises enough money to fully cover tuition for all students; instead spends on other things

OSU’s second year of its “believe it” campaign has successfully raised over one billion dollars. As the critically acclaimed student run Daily barometer reports; this is enough money to fully cover the costs of tuition for over 80,000 students. When asked to expand upon how this massive accomplishment will make the 30,000+ students who will now have tuition fully covered feel, an OSU Foundation spokesperson said “we briefly considered investing half of our fundraised money into making Oregon State University tuition free to its tens of thousands of students, but we have instead decided to focus on campus buildings and other flashy projects, which will improve our ability to successfully fundraise for similar flashy projects in the future” when asked on their thoughts, OSU second year student and mechanical engineering major had this to say; “I was so excited to hear that OSU had raised enough to fully fund tuition for all students and decided to instead invest it on far more important projects like buildings that students won’t be able to afford taking classes in. While tuition affordability is a big deal, and I often find myself skipping meals and on the brink of homelessness, I much prefer knowing we instead will be building a supercomputer on campus” Looking ahead to next years fundraising efforts, Oregon state university hopes to fundraise enough money to eliminate student hunger, which it will instead spend on tearing down the other half of Reser stadium.
